Circular economy and solar power at CSB

Since 2003 we have put used plastic back into production. Since 2025 our factory roofs also generate electricity.

From linear to circular

In a linear economy plastic is used once and thrown away. In a circular economy it becomes raw material again.

Linear

  1. Take
  2. Make
  3. Use
  4. Discard

Resources run out and plastic waste builds up in landfill and nature.

Circular at CSB

  1. Use
  2. Collect
  3. Recycle
  4. Use again

Used plastic is sorted, washed and pelletised, then made into new products.

Reduce, reuse, recycle

  1. Recycle

Used plastic is processed on EREMA lines into pellets. More than 250 kt is back in production.

  2. Reuse

Durable PP products such as folding boxes, containers and pots are used again and again.

  3. Reduce

Recycled pellets reduce the need for new resin, and rooftop solar reduces power from the grid.

3 GWh+ of power from our roofs

In April 2025 CSB inaugurated a 1,350.18 kWp rooftop solar plant with Suryanesia. Since then the panels have generated, and the plants have used, more than 3 GWh of electricity.

The roof panels connect to inverters and an AC combiner, then synchronise with the PLN grid. Since that day solar power has gone straight into production.

Common questions

What is a circular economy in plastics?
A model where plastic does not end as waste. Used plastic is collected, sorted, washed and processed back into raw material for new products.
How much plastic has CSB recycled?
More than 250 kt (250,000 tonnes) of plastic since CSB started in 2003.
How big is the CSB rooftop solar plant?
An installed capacity of 1,350.18 kWp, inaugurated in April 2025 with Suryanesia, which has generated and used more than 3 GWh of electricity.
Is the solar power used on site?
Yes. Power from the panels runs CSB plant operations and reduces electricity drawn from the grid.
Which machines are used for recycling?
EREMA TVEplus recycling lines from Austria, which melt, filter and pelletise the plastic.
